Transatlantic Price Converter

Convert between European (€/m³) and North American (USD or C$ per mfbm) timber prices. Accounts for exchange rates, nominal vs. actual dimensions, and bark deductions.

North American lumber is sold in nominal dimensions. A "2×4" actually measures 1.5″ × 3.5″. This affects volume conversion. Select your product:

1.000

European Festmeter = solid m³ under bark. If your price is over-bark, apply a deduction (typically 10–15% for softwood).

How it works: 1 m³ = 423.776 board feet (nominal). The dimension factor adjusts for the gap between nominal and actual sawn dimensions. Bark deduction converts over-bark m³ to under-bark Festmeter. Exchange rates are editable — update them to today's market rates before sharing results.
